The
procedures for applying for admission to the graduate program
are detailed in the university catalog and at the USF Graduate
Admissions web site. A downloadable Graduate Application Form is
available on the USF Graduate ADMISSIONS Web Site,
http://www.grad.usf.edu,
or through USF’s web site,
http://www.usf.edu. A brief summary of application
procedures is given below.
Office
Of USF Graduate Admissions Regulations:
The
application fee must accompany ALL applications. This fee cannot
be waived. Two official transcripts from all previous
institutions must be forwarded to the Office of Graduate
Admissions (FAO 126) University of South Florida, 4202 E. Fowler
Avenue, Tampa, Florida, 33620.
ALL
students are admitted for a specific semester and MUST validate
acceptance by enrolling for the semester to which they were
accepted, or MUST submit in writing to the Admissions Office a
request of change of admission date within 6 months of
acceptance. The deferment form can be found at the following
website:
http://admissions.grad.usf.edu/defer.html. After one such
request, a new application/fee is then required. See USF

Graduate Applicant Criteria
(1) GRE/TOEFL: It is a department
requirement for ALL MS Industrial Engineering graduate student
applicants to score at least 1100 points on the
verbal/quantitative (V and Q) [English/ Math] portion of the
GRE. ALL PhD applicants must score at least 1200 points on the
verbal/quantitative portion of the GRE. GRE scores are
acceptable for up to five years prior to applying. It can take 2
weeks (computer exam) or 6 weeks (paper exam) for the GRE score
to reach the USF Graduate Admissions Office. Plan accordingly!
We strongly recommend that applicants obtain a GRE practice book
with previous GRE tests -and PRACTICE! The TOEFL is required for
all international applicants. Passing score for the TOEFL is 213
(550 paper version).
(2) GPA: Since graduate students
MUST maintain a 3.0 grade point average to graduate from IE
graduate programs, applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA, or
equivalent, in undergraduate work to be admitted.
(3) Undergraduate Degree: American
students must also have an undergraduate degree from an
accredited ABET institution. To indicate they are properly
prepared, International students must have earned an appropriate
undergraduate degree from a reputable institution that is
comparable to an ABET accredited undergraduate degree earned in
the United States. An international applicant’s calculated GPA
must be equivalent to at least a 3.0 minimum GPA. Technical
school degrees or other technical degrees do NOT meet
requirements for admittance to the IE graduate program. These
applicants will have to fulfill the BSIE equivalency
requirements.
(4) All applicants must submit a
letter containing Statement of Purpose and Goals. This should be
a one or two page letter.
(5) Letters of Recommendation/
Statement: All international applicants must supply 3 letters of
recommendation.

Applicants
International applicants must
submit to International Graduate Admissions - University of
South Florida, 4202 E. Fowler Avenue, Tampa, Florida, 33620,
USA.): an International Student Application and the $30
application fee (U.S. Dollars only).
International Students must
provide:
(1) Proof of financial resources
and insurance to cover a full year's expenses, (Minimum - more
financial information may be required),
(2) English translations of all
previous educational transcripts,
(3) GRE score (minimum 1100 –
Verbal and Quantitative total),
(4) Minimum TOEFL score of 213 (550
paper version), and
(5) To indicate they are properly
prepared, International students must have earned an appropriate
undergraduate degree from a reputable institution that is
comparable to an accredited undergraduate degree earned in the
United States.
International students should apply
WELL in advance of admission deadlines (six months BEFORE the
semester an applicant wants to attend) since these applications
take longer to process. You should also contact the
International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) International
