Requirements
depend on the master degree program in which the student is
matriculating. All graduate students are required to meet with
the IE Graduate Coordinator each semester before registering for
courses until they have chosen a major advisor and then they
must meet with their major advisor each semester for course
approval before registration. See table for more specific
information.
The steps
in which specific masters degrees are earned are indicated in
Table 2.

Toward Completion of IE Masters of Science Degree
1. Begin
earning credit hours required with guidance from IE graduate
coordinator
2. By 12
week of student’s 2nd semester choose major professor
3.
Determine thesis topic
4.
Determine remainder of courses
5. Choose
remaining members of thesis committee
6. Make
formal thesis proposal to thesis committee*
7. Make
formal thesis defense to thesis committee* **
8. Submit
thesis to College of Engineering and Graduate School
*Document
must be given to committee members at least one week prior to
meeting with committee for formal defense meeting
**There
must be a period of at least four (4) weeks from when proposal
is made to committee in formal meeting and when formal thesis
defense can take place.
